Trends
Wedding planning season is here! It’s always interesting to see what the new trends for the up and coming wedding season is going to be. Colorado seems to be an eclectic swirl of east and west coast trends, which gives us a range of ideas and selections! While cultivating my Colorado wedding ideas a few trends kept popping up in my searches.
Non Traditional venues. The more unique, the better! From vacation rental homes to breweries; anything goes. Warehouses and rooftops seem like such a fun idea as well. Warehouses offer a blank slate for you to build your dream wedding decor. Depending upon location and availability this can be a great idea for budget brides, considering these venues are likely to be less expensive because they are not a “traditional” venue.
Garden Bouquets: Think English garden or French Country. Roses, jasmine vines, olive branches-basically grandma’s garden is creating the “trending” bouquet. We are seeing nudes, blushes and peach flower arrangements, but also lavender and purples; so soft and romantic. In the past wedding season, the “wildflower feel” was all the rage, being rustic and casual. This year formal and structured arrangements are being seen in all settings. I myself love the wildflower rustic look and so for me this means possibly less expensive flower arrangements, since my style isn’t “trendy”. Which is great because saving money anywhere helps and I still get the look I want.
The Menu. Typically the question is buffet or plated- this year neither is the answer. Interactive stations are taking over dinner. Mac & cheese, sliders and grits stations are all really fun and different. You can’t go wrong with anything with choose-your-own toppings. A new and fun cost effective option being seen this year: FOOD TRUCKS. This is definitely unique and fun but also great for any size wedding. The more guests you have, the more trucks (selections) you have!
Cake: Go bold or go home. Colors, textures and patterns are becoming the “traditional” cake. This season its being stepped up a notch with bold colors like fuchsia, aqua and purple. Metallics are even making an appearance. Dessert bars and stations are still fun as well. I personally really want a donut tower in lieu of a cake but the fiancé is not on board…yet.
All that glitters is gold: A personal favorite trend we are seeing: gold! This includes gold mercury-glass vases, gold table linens and gold glitter accents! You can add gold glitter accents to anything to give a glitz and glamorous feel. Here at Chair Rental we are pleased to announce we have brought in a few new styles of linens, chevron glitz table runners* being a part of that. Don’t be afraid of pattern; bold stripes, trellis-patterns and florals are hot and fun this season. Chevron made its debut late in the season last year, so this season, be prepared to see it EVERYWHERE.
Say Cheese! Gone are the days of photo booths. Well not exactly. Apparently “Slo-Mo” booths are the way to go. It records your guests, who have props (such as silly string, confetti, etc…) letting loose, but in slow motion! Afterwards you get a 3-5 minute montage video set with music of all your guests being crazy…slowly.
CO Brew: Colorado is known for its fantastic array of micro-brews, so of course having a selection of Colorado’s finest at the reception would be a big deal. Even the bar is themed! Having local beers and spirits is becoming the new Open Bar, which would be a hit for CO natives or out of towners. A trend I really love is having a “Mood Mixologist”. You tell the bartender how you are feeling and he will then mix up a special concoction for you.
Your wedding is about what you and your fiancé love; trendy or not. All that’s important is that this day encompasses a mixture of you both and allows for a relaxed bride and groom to have FUN.
